Dr. Shu Yamada is a professor of Graduate School of Business Sciences (GSBS) at University of Tsukuba and assigned the Dean of GSBS during April 2008 – March 2010. He teaches quality management, quality improvement, management system and so forth at MBA in International Business course, where all causes are taught in English. Further teaching subjects includes, technology development method, design of experiments and so forth at other courses.
He obtained degrees of master of engineering in 1989 and doctor of engineering in 1993 from Tokyo University of Science under advices by Prof. Noriaki Kano. After obtaining the degrees, he has worked in several universities, such that Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo Metropolitan institute of technology and the current position in University of Tsukuba.
His research interests focus on quality management, design of experiments for quality, statistical quality control and so forth. He published over 50 papers and 10 books on quality, statistical methods. He was awarded Nikkei Quality Control Literature Prize in 1993, 1997, 1999 and 2005. He had been a member of board meeting of Japanese Society for Quality Control (JSQC) (November 2000-2001, 2003-2005).
He is recognized as an international academician focusing on practice, such as committee members of Deming prize, ISO TC 176 (quality management), ISO TC 207 (environmental management), IEC/ TC 111 for Environmental conscious design, ISO TC 69 (statistical techniques). Furthermore, his experiences cover a vice-chief in editor of the Journal of JSQC, an associate editor of Asian Journal of Quality (Korean Society for Quality Management), editorial board of Quality Engineering (American Society for Quality) and so on.
As well as academic experiences, he had a plenty of experiences to consult companies and have joint research projects with companies. The typical subjects of the joint research projects include application of statistical tools to improve quality and productivity under complicated process, constructing new management system. The experiences to consultation companies include promotion of TQM, implementation of daily management system. Furthermore, specialized seminars for problem solving/ statistical techniques based on the company nature have been conducted for many companies.
Janak Kumar Mehta

Mr. Mehta has the unique blend of business experience for 25 years leading to the position of Chief Executive and 32 years of consulting experience guiding organizations on variety of business excellence approaches from Europe, Japan and USA.
He has contributed to the development of national infrastructure for quality, standardization and conformity assessment in India and has advised other countries. He contributed to global integration of quality movement as President and later Chair of International Academy for Quality (IAQ) and Chairperson of Asian Network for Quality (ANQ); and through collaboration with American Society for Quality (ASQ), European Organization for Quality (EOQ), Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE), Middle East Quality Association (MEQA) and Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO).
For his outstanding contribution, he has been awarded Deming Prize by JUSE, Lancaster Medal by ASQ, Founders Medal by IAQ and Harrington – Ishikawa Medal by APQO. He has chaired awards committees at IAQ, ANQ and Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) awarding scores of awards in India, Asia and the international level. Some of the Awardees are business leaders of large global corporations.
Mr. Mehta has thus unique experience of business excellence within a company, company-wide covering entire supply chain, Group wide covering all companies in a group, nation-wide, region wide and global. He covers diverse business segments from discreet manufacturing, process industry and service sector including financial, communication, IT, healthcare etc.
Mr. Mehta contributed in establishment of various voluntary organizations for quality promotion that includes CII – TQM Division, Quality Council of India, Indian Society for Quality, Mahindra Institute of Quality and Asian Network for Quality as not for profit organizations and two for profit quality organizations.

Wan Seon Shin, an academician of IAQ, is professor of Systems Management Engineering of Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Korea. He served as chairman of the Asian Network for Quality (ANQ), president of the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM) and the Korean Society for Public Enterprises, and an external board member of Samsung Engineering Corporation. His teaching and research interests include quality management, technology leadership, and digital transformation.
Prof. Shin has provided various consultation and education on quality innovation and leadership for more than 200 organizations, including SAMSUNG Electronics, SAMSUNG Engineering, HYUNDAI_KIA Motors, LG Electronics, LG CHEM, POSCO, KT, Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO), HANA Financial Group, KOLON Industries, HANWHA Corporation, DAELIM construction, YG-1, and numerous companies in the public sector. Roland K. Jahnke (Germany)

Roland K. Jahnke from Germany was, among other things, active in the logistics sector both in the former Federal Ministry for Postal Services and Telecommunications and in its follow-up organization Deutsche Post DHL Group as well as a quality expert in the US. He studied economic sciences (Diploma’d Merchant) in Germany, attended international courses in the US and Europe (Master in TQM, Executive MBA) and also was a doctoral candidate at Gloucestershire University/Great Britain.
Moreover, he is involved in the development of sustainability and was, in the education sector, invited as a quality expert to global and regional conferences by Unesco. Roland has had more than 30 years’ job experience in different management functions in the business sector. He actively helped to design the complete transformation of the Deutsche Post DHL Group from a national public authority to a global player (world market leader in logistics) by means of various quality projects.
He is elected Academician of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), USA (since 2010). Besides, he was nominated as a Fellow by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in 2015. As early as 2011, he was nominated Chairman of the IAQ Quality in Education Think Tank (IAQ QiETT). He exercised this function in the period from 2011 to 2016.Subsequently Roland founded the start-up Global Sustainable Excellence Concepts (GSEC) in Germany (since 2016). There he acts as Founder and President, one of his activities consisting in continuing work in the field of Quality Education. At the same time, he has been active as an International Consultant for UN Organizations since 2016.

Professor Tan has been working in reliability for 37 years. After 10 years of working experiences in reliability in electronic industry, he joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore as faculty member in 1996 till 2014. He was then invited to join Chang Gung University, Taiwan and set up a research Center on Reliability Sciences and Technologies there and acts as Center Director.
He is Professor in Electronic Department of Chang Gung University, Honorary Chair Professor in Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan, Adjunct Professor in the College of Medicine, and Researcher in the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou.
He has published 430+ International Journal and Conference papers, giving 15+ keynote talks and 70+ invited talks in International Conferences, several tutorials in International Conferences and written 6 books and 6 book chapters in the fifield of reliability. Myung-soo Kang is the chairman and CEO of the Korean Standards Association (KSA), which is a professional knowledge provider of global standards and quality services in Korea.
He is working with over 4,500 Korean companies to improve their competitiveness through educating them on industrial standards and quality management, enhancing the methods of KS/ISO certification and quality management innovation, researching and developing standards, and publishing and distributing local and overseas standards.
In the face of a new era of change called the 4IR, his interests focus on developing solutions that help organizations deal with digital transformation and sustainability such as AI, future cars, and cloud computing, carbon neutrality and ESG.
